Is my damaged nerve repairing itself? Please help!!?

Question:
I had a very difficult extraction of my lower wisdom tooth 3 days ago and suffered nerve damage on my chin and lip. The surgeon said this might happen. Everything has been numb however tonight I have been experiecing sharp pains radiating from the side of my face and on my chin particulary. Does this mean my nerve is repairing itself? It really hurts!!

Answers:
It is not possible to tell only 2-3 days after.
The pain could be the result of infection/inflammation.

But since the sensation is there, there is a possibility that your nerve was not totally damaged, but partially.

Go to a dentist, and observe for a few days more.

go see a dentist, don't trust a buunch of yahoo's

Go To the DEntist - NOW This pain is normal. Take some acetominophen for pain relief. If this goes on for more than 5 days, you need to contact your dentist.

The nerve ending was severed when the tooth was extracted, so it would heal at the base.

have faith that everything will come out fine also go to the doctor if it gets even worse
take care^_^ this sounds like a dry socket and you need to see your dentist anyway- i THINK that when your feeling returns in this area - it will not be this severe pain you are describing so more than one thing is going on.
