baking soda and hydrogen peroxide? safe? effective?

Question:
I'm wondering if this is a safe, effective way to remove plaque and whiten teeth. Swish with hyrogen peroxide (without swallowing of course) then brush with baking soda. I'd really appreciate a professional opinion. I can't afford professional whitening but would use this method if safe.

Answers:
Safe if not used daily. Peroxide, continually used, can lead to acidosis and the damaging of enamel.
The two mixed together causes a reaction. Mix the two together in a cup and see. You don't want that going on in your mouth.

Brush your teeth with baking soda only twice a day.
Baking soda is what toothpaste was and is made of, H2O2 isn't necessarily used for teeth or safe for swallowing. I use Crest Whitestrips "Classic". They work great.
