Question:

...when u get braces? im getting mine in two months, and i want to know how bad it hurts. how long does it take for the dentist to put them in? please rate the pain from 1 to 10, 10 being the worstest.

The actual application of the braces doesn't normally hurt. There is usually some discomfort with the whole process and for several days after. Keep in mind you're adjusting to talking/eating/maneuvering around a mouth full of extra parts. As you go in for adjustments, you'll be in pain for a day or two after. Wax will be your best friend. Also, any over the counter medicine you normally take.

When I had braces, I would take a couple of Tylenol before my appointment and then two more 4-5 hours later. This helps lessen the initial discomfort.

On a scale of 1-10, the actual pain is low. 2 or 3. The discomfort afterwards is where you get more of the pain. The amount of time it takes depends on what your dentist is having to do. I think it took about 1 1/2 hours when I got mine. But that's been several years ago.

Not while they are putting them on. Only afterward, but the pull on your teeth while they are putting them on will be uncomfortable.

Does not hurt. They will be sore when adjustments are made but only for a day or two. If you bite down hard on certain areas, they will be sore as well. Takes about an hour.

They will be a little sore but you will get used to it and it will go away eventually. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

They aren't that bad. I've never had much problem with the soreness, though many people do. However, I was prone to canker sores prior to getting them, and they make the sores that much more painful...

Trust me... it's not unbearable, just uncomfortable at times.... and

IT'S WORTH IT!!
