what is the percentage of dental care recipients in the U.S.?

Question: I heard a news story on NPR that claimed 40% of all Americans had never been to the dentist? Is this true? Where did this statistic come from?

Answers:
I wouldn't say 40%..possibly 30%.alot of older people claim they never seen a dentist , but then when they come in to our office and we take x-rays, we can see that they actually have been to a dentist by what work has been done on their teeth. I think the statistics are slightly off
