anyone had root canal done? does it hurt? if so how long does the pain last?

yes,i had a root canal done a month ago.

the day beore the procedure i could not sleep because i was terrified of the pain to come.
i was practically weeping by the time i got to the dentist cos i expected the pain to be very bad.
but srangely enough once i had been given a local anesthetic,i did not feel a thing.it is quite a long procedure mine took over an hour,but it was totally painless.i can actually say that i would do another one without any fear and i am a terrible wimp when it comes to pain.
once the anesthetic had worn off i did not feel any pain but i think that would be a personal experience thing because some people feel some throbbing afterwards.i did not.
wish you luck,do go for it it is as it is worth while as you get to save your tooth.

With the local anaesthetic, the actual procedure itself didn't really hurt, but it did throb for about 4 days. i just kept taking lots of Nurofen!
