How often should someone visit their dentist for a cleaning?
Question:
Answers:
If your gums and bone support is healthy and you do not have any or very little bleeding or build up of tartar, every six months is plenty. Some people can actually go longer if they are excellent and do not have a history of decay. Others may need to come in every 3 months because of periodontal (gum) disease, excess build up of tartar, poor home care, or excessive bleeding. I even had a patient that came in every month because her immune system was very compromised. Your dentist and hygienist should work together to come up with a recall time that works best for you personally. Everyone is different!!

i am a dental hygienist. I recommend my patients to come every 6 months if they have no problem areas and no bleading at their regular cleaning appointments. If they have what we call periodontal disease or "gum disease" and require "deep cleaning" they should visit us more often every 3-4 months until the disease is stoped from advancing. Hope it helped! :)
