The biggest secret to toothbrushing is to ensure that you feel the bristles touching your gums. If they brush doesn't reach to the gums they you haven't disrupted all the plaque colonies and your teeth won't be clean. With an electric brush, or any brush for that matter, lighten up - don't scrub hard. Instead of holding the brush handle in your fist hold it with your fingertips. By lightening your grasp you allow the brush to do the work for you.
Just brush as you normally would with a regular brush. The exact same motions. All an electric really does is add a little more ooph to the brushing. Otherwise, there is no difference.
