i went to the endodontist and he said that there is nothing wrong with my root canal?

it hurts like crazy and is sensitive to temp. it hurts when i press on the gums and i cant bite on it. could it be my wisdom teeth making it hurt? he said the only thing that he can see is that it is not healed all the way and i had it done 6 months ago. what do you think it could be.

I had a root canal that never healed, in fact I never got as far as the permanent filling. The tooth had a very long root that was difficult to work with. It was very badly infected and eventually (after 6 months and 4 rounds of antibiotics) I had an apicoectomy, had the root canal finished and it is fine now. I would go for another opinion. an apicoectomy is when they go into the gum, remove the tip of the root and put a retrograde filling in if you don't know what that is, it was no big deal and I was glad to have the tooth recovered, I was ready to have it pulled and would have if I hadn't just had orthodontics put on.

its a pocket of abcess under the root..thats why he said its not healed.. abcess can take a long time to go away and heal. when there is abcess, you actually deteriate the bone in that area and your body has to heal itself.. it may feel like that for a while, some as long a a few years...or you can have a hairline fracture that can't be seen in an x-ray. I highly suggest avoiding anything cold on that side for a while until it starts to feel better (not the greatest advice, I know, but it's all you can do for now).oh, and don't get a crown put on it until it is better incase the Dr. missed a nerve
