Dental Experts - What Do You Suggest?
Seventeen years ago, a stray baseball hit me in the jaw and fractured it in a dozen places. Consequently, I lost many teeth, and others did not settle properly. After exhausting my finances on root canals that didn't take, I've lost several more. Those that remain are discolore.
My teeth have really taken away from my life, socially and career-wise. No one wants to hire someone with this type of smile, much less date them. I have been distraught over this for a long time. I'm bright, but I work in a blue collar job, doing work way below my skill level. Obviously, I would like to get my teeth fixed, but the last estimate for a full mouth fix was $30K -- a year's salary for me, and totally unaffordable.
Because jaw problems remain, I have strong gag reflex. I have an upper partial, but constantly have to take it out. I can't wear a lower partial at all. Because of this, the thought of dentures (8K) scares me. Are there any affordable options?
Should fillings change how sensitive my teeth are?
Answers:
Not knowing which teeth you do have is hard, but I would suggest a bridge be placed. They just need a few upper teeth to anchor onto. Most people dont even know that is an option. Bridges are crowns, that are all stuck and fused together, so they work as a unit. You can have as much teeth or a few teeth that you want. Start with the upper teeth, and worry about the lowers when ever you want, because you cannot see trhem when you smile. The ideal amount would be a 12 unit bridge. that would cover all your needed chewing teeth. But a 10 unit would be fine as well. Just call around and get quotes or make a few exams because they really do need to see you before they can give you an exact estimate. Then tell them you want copies of your x rays, so you dont have to keep paying for them at differnt dentists. 30k is very steep. Also check and see if they have payment plans. Most have something to work with you. Hope this helped.
I'm scared to get braces. please help?
I dont know dental colleges at your country do professional cosmetic and restorative treatments or not but at mine(Iran)they do at the half prize.but without concerning the money.I think you may need some dentoalveolar surgery and ridge augmentation(some kind of bone graft with synthetic material) to fix the jaw problem. and you can gain a wonderful smile by taking implants . so that you won`t have partials problems any more! we charge 600-700$ for each implants at universities in Iran.
