Can hard alcohol damage or affect a retainer in any way?
Also, I just had my braces off last week, and while I have a retainer on the bottom part of my mouth, I have to wait for the top part. My orthodontist told me nothing will move and my teeth will be fine without the retainer for two weeks. But I still need to wear it all the time, but what if I take a couple hours off everyday. Is that ok?
I got my braces 5 hours ago and I don't feel any pain,is this normal?
Answers:
no alcohol will not do anything to a retainer. and yes you can take it out for a few hours throughout the day. You just need to make sure you do wear it the majority of the day and all night. It takes 24 hours for the teeth to start to shift and even that is minor. so if you want a little break in the morning and afternoon that is perfectly fine. But the more you wear it the faster you will start to get used to it.
I've seen drinkers with dentures where the pink got bleached out of the dentures after years and years. The dentures otherwise seemed fine. A retainer is not made of the same acrylic (not as hard), but I imagine nothing worse than that would happen.
