Do they always give antibiotics for wisdom teeth extractions, and do you always get stiches?
crikey..i always floss and have likely 30 fillings. my husband never flosses and has 2 fillings - i have an acidic mouth and well, every torturous bit in my mouth is bad news. it likely depends on the individual.
if you already have fillings, i would make every attempt to floss / mouthwash/brush EVERY night!
Yes. It's kind of like washing your hair or taking a shower. You SHOULD do it every day and you feel a lot better when you do, but it's not the end of the world. Don't even think about skipping a second day, though. With gums, you will see changes occurring within just a couple of days if you lay off the flossing.
I have one patient who was an absolute MODEL of healthy gums. I mean, he was perfect, even at age 40. All of the sudden, his teeth were not so clean and he had some puffiness. I mean, this change occurred between check-up visits. I asked him what was up. He said that he recently re-married and only remembered to floss about 3 or 4 times a week. The changes were dramatic - much worse than I would have expected. Then again, stress can add to gum problems...
