Does anyone know what to do about TMJ syndrome?

Answers:
Go to the emergency room. An abcessed tooth can cause serious problems and dentists take a long time to get an appointment to see them. You could develop an infection that goes to your brain and causes brain damage.

Ok just to update this I went ahead and called to schedule an appointment with the dentist for myself and got an appointment scheduled for a little over a week and just told them that it's been a while and didn't describe any serious problems, but still that's way to long for you to wait. If you can't get in to see a dentist within 48 hours really you need to just go to the emergency room (after scheduling an appointment). The emergency room doctor will be able to make decidions as to whether or not to prescribe a pain reliever and wait until the appointment or to perform emergency dental work.
