Answers:
I'll try to help, as I am a practicing dentist in the US.

1) Get a copy of your xray of the tooth with the root canal. Was the root canal properly done? If not, the tooth can get reinfected; even if properly done, there is always a chance of reinfection.
Get an xray of root canaled tooth today. Compare the two.

2) 95% of root canaled teeth need crowns. Without a crown or properly done filling, there is not an adequate seal to prevent infection stemming from the oral cavity.

3) Without a crown, 95% of root canaled teeth have a very high probability of fracture. Is it sensitive to biting pressure and eating? If so, you may have a fracture.

4) "Pills" do not seem like adequate treatmet for your scenario. I would go see another dentist for a 2nd opinion.

Good luck!
