Question:
I know I have to go to the dentist, but they scheduled me for july 5th, and I got a headache because of it. What can I do for now? Should I take tylenol or any other medicine?

Answers:
Be brave and call the dentist.

In the meantime take Advil to help with pain and inflammation.

Other Answers:
try taking aspirin it helps better than tylenol and you can try extra strength orajel for now to help the pain, or you can always look up after hour emergency clinics and get your tooth pulled before july 5th.
ask your doc wat's wrong!
take tylenol and use an ice pack on the side of your cheek

yuo need to go to the dentist before july 5 so ring them and tell them its an emergency
go to the dentist
something to stop the swelling, ibuprofen is usually best, but you should ask your dentists' office, they will know for sure what's best. Just give them a call on monday morning.
Tell them you can't sleep or do anything and get in asap, tooth pain is horrible.
What's up doc!
Go to another place which can attend you faster.
I had a friend who had one of those .It took less than two weeks before his whole face swelled up.Her almost died waiting to see a dentist. You need to go to an emergency room to get some kind of antibiotocs. If not ,the infection can go to your brain ..It could kill you..

my friend JD who ended up in ICU cause of an abeseed tooth
If it keeps up go to an dentist and get it checked out. You don't it to get so bad that there is nothing you can do about it.
call the dentist. see if he can look at it quick. If it is absessed you will need to take an penicilin before the dentist can work on it. better to get the medicine now and be ready on the 5th
Go to another dentist. This is a true emergency if there is swelling and pain. If it is just a sore tooth, it probably isnt an absessed tooth. Your dentist should have been able to see you the same day.
Until then try Ibuprofen because that is an antiinflammatory and pain reliever.
Of Course.see the dentist. But in the mean tome try gargling with salt water. If you don't have any over the counter meds like Ambesol,Try chewing on a clove. It will help numb your mouth.Best Wishes!♥
Call the dentist back and tell them the tooth is absessed and ask if they could call you in some medicine to your pharmacy.
Call your dentist and tell them it's an emergency. If they still can't get you in soon, try a different dentist. It will only get a lot worse if it's not taken care of!
If it's really bothering you, call other dentists to see if you can get an earlier appointment. If not, just take tylenol and/or ibuprofen until your appointment. Hope this helps.
take Tylenol or Motrin, whatever works better for you. Don't let the pain get too bad. But 5th of July is way too far away! You can get serious infection or even die if this gets into you bloodstreem.
rinse your mouth out with hydrogen peroxide diluted with water.. will help lessen the pain from the infection. Ibuprofen or motrin will work better than tylenol because they have antinflammatory properties. You can also try rubbing ambesol ( babies use it for teething gums) helps numb the area may reduce some of the pain
Call the dentists office and tell them you are in pain. Most dentist's offices have an emergency number you can call. If you have an abscess you will need an antibiotic and some Tylenol. or what the dentist tells you to take. A receptionist at a dentists office who schedules appointments doesn't always understand the urgency. Make sure he/she knows you are in pain. If the appt. isn't moved to Monday at the latest. find another dentist.
You need to get in to see your dentist as soon as possible. If the tooth is abcessed you will need to be put on antibiotics for at least a week before it can be pulled so when you call the dentist tell them that it is an emergency.
I'm a naturalist. I take straight cranberry juice (sour, nothing added), 6-8 ounces, three or four times a day until the infection is gone. Also drink bottled water (spring or distilled) to help wash infection out of your body. Vegetable soup and/or soft-cooked vegetables are also good to wash infection out of your body & build the immune system.

The cranberry juice is key. Heat it - it helps take the sour out. (It is available at health food stores and most grocery stores in the organic and/or juice sections.)

Take sugars (especially refined) out of your diet as much as possible. Sugar feeds infections (abscesses).
Hi,
I had the same problem about a month ago. If the pain is really bad see if you can find an emergency dentist. Ibouprofin worked for me. Good Luck!! I feel your pain.

If you think it is absessed I would call another dentist and see if you could be seen sooner.

Rinsing your mouth with warm salt water is an old standby for a toothache. Can't hurt to try it.In my experience OTC painkillers like Tylenol don't help much with a severe toothache but you could try using whichever one you like best.

Some people put clove oil on a Qtip and then apply to the painful tooth (If you try this be sure you are not allergic to it first and before using anything new!) this supposedly can help deaden the pain.

I'd really suggest calling another dentist..

In medieval times, folks combined egg yolk and honey and rubbed it on the outside of there jaw. This is said to draw the pain out of you'r mouth.

In Africa, they use the juice of the aloe vera plant.Break off a leaf and remove the fleshy skin inside. Rub it over the painfull area and it is suppose to take the pain away.Repeat when the pain comes back.

The English used clove oil into thier gums to stop the pain.It is high in eugonal, which studies show is a potent pain reliver.Doctors still use it today as a topical anesthetic.

To keep cavities from forming in the first place is to eat cheese after every meal.It keeps bacteria from forming.
If the pain is unbearable, go to the ER. I had to do that last summer. The ER has a dental room and dentists on call. The dentist came in, did x-rays and examined the tooth. Gave me an antibiotic and pain medication. Kept me going till I could see my dentist.
If it is an abscessed tooth you need an antibiotic because you do not want the infection to get in to your blood stream. Watch out for fever and swelling. See your doc as soon as possible. This is nothing to play around with. Take ibuprofen for your pain.

The dentist.
Call the dental office back and tell them things have gotten worse and you have a tooth pain, swelling and a true dental emergency. If they can not get you in before then call another Dentist.

You may be able to get in within 24 hours and save on your dental bill with a discount dental plan.
Call them, and tell them you cannot wait until July 5th. Most dentists get cancellations, but if you don't tell them how much pain you are in, how are they supposed to know. They will fit you in if they know you are in pain.
