A gum in the back of my mouth is really swollen. What could it be, how do I fix it?

Question:
There is also a really salty liquid that is inside, and popped today. I keep on squeezing it out, but it also keeps on swelling. And it also really hurts. I know this is gross, but I don't know what to do. Any idea what might help? Thanks!

Answers:
no doubt about it.. it is a abscess and they suck.. take some pain relievers anything over the counter and rinse ur mouth out after eating with warm salt water. and only drink water until it gets better.. i would not keep picking at it.. let it swell up and when it pops on its own then good... but if it swells so big that it hurts then pop it.. but Advil or some kind of tooth numbing medication should take care of the pain,

Other Answers:
It could be either trapped food that's irritating it or it could be infected. If you got puss out of it, it's infected. If you pop it, then of course it's going to hurt and keep swelling. The best thing to do if you can't go to a dentist is to keep it clean, rinse with salt water to reduce the pain and swelling, and if it persists, go to a dentist.
It sounds infected. If it's caused by food in there, try flossing. Rinse your mouth with salt water.
It sounds like you have an abscess. A tooth abscess is pus caused by a bacterial infection in the center of a tooth. Try rinsing your mouth will warm salt water and taking a pain reliever if it is aching. Contact your dentist. You don't want the infection to spread. He/she may prescribe an antibiotic or suggest a root canal.

I hope you feel better soon.
