To strengthen weak teeth?

My S.O. has never been to a dentist in his life, and at the moment can't afford to now. He has a horrible habit of drinking pop like Mountain Dew.. Vault. all sorts of terrible things for his teeth *shakes fist*. Before he met me he hardly even brushed his teeth because it was never taught or enforced in his family, so at least I have him doing that everyday now for the past two years, but he still drinks pop and I think it kind of cancels out some good he's doing for his teeth. So 1: Is there any substitutes he could dirnk that owuld get him away from those nasty drinks? And 2: What are some strong rinses.toothpastes.. ect that will build up his enamel? His teeth always have some sort of weird tint to them because they are so thin! He also has untreated cavities!

He needs to switch to drinking water, unfortunately he probably wont do that. The sugar and acids in Mt Dew is probably one of the worst! I have seen some horribly decayed teeth because patients sipped on this drink all day long.
Try to get him to chew sugarless gum with Xylitol as the 1st ingredient. While nothing he does can help the cavities he has already, hopefully if he changes his habits, new cavities will not form. Brushing as often as possible, flossing, and rinse with ACT Fluoride rinse at night.
Most importantly he needs to calm down his 'drinking'. Have him drink it fast, don't sip all day long, and after wards swish with water.
There are dental schools that could see him at a reduced fee, call a local dentist and see if they know of somewhere he could go. He really needs to get the cavities treated before they get worse and possibly turn into root canals to treat (quite a bit more pricey). There are also 'loan' programs that dental offices offer so he can pay over time.

Lots of calcium. Although soda does undo some of the god he does, it is not very significant, assuming he brushes his teeth. Also, make him get fillings.

Teeth need Fluoride to stregthen enamel. Calcium I'm sure wouldn't hurt. Drinking water after pop helps get the sugar off the teeth to prevent some of the damage. eventually, once all their teeth fall out. there won't be a problem. Maybe you could check out denistry schools. Some univerisities have cheaper treatments as the students do the work supervised by their lecturer. It is like some of their prac work. Maybe you could find out if one of the universities near you has a denistry school that does that. It would mean your bf sees the dentist, gets some help and at half the costs.

sugar free and less acidic drinks are now available.
He has to control his diet- no alternative to that
now there is a recalcification treatment available which at the moment can only be carried out by a dentist also recaldent toothpaste
