Cavity prevention?

Question:
I've never really brushed my teeth well, I know I should but earlier I discovered I had a cavity which i'll need filled but I also discovered maybe the start of several other cavities, my question is if I start now to have good oral hygiene, for instance brushing twice a day, flossing and using mouth wash, could I reverse the damage of my pre-cavity teeth or would they also develop cavities anyway?

Answers:
Your teeth can re-mineralize very small cavities. If they are larger, you can't reverse the damage. Ususally your dentist will say he is going to put a watch on the teeth that have tiny cavities. You can have cavities in different spots on a tooth so of course brushing and flossing will help prevent new ones. Get your cavaties filled soon, if left they can rot your teeth down to the root and be very painful, in which you would need a root canal. Lots more money and stress than getting a cavity filled. Once your mouth is all fixed up, a good oral hygeine program will help prevent cavities and keep your breath fresher.
As far as I know .. you either have a cavity, or you don't. I've never heard of a "pre cavity" .. needless to say, the sooner you start Oral Hygeine .. the sooner your teeth and gums will become more healthy. Good Luck ! :)
