Teeth removed?
i had all my teeth removed and i wanted to know if anyone new how long before the pain would go away and before i could eat anything?
Answers:
All dentists are different but mine gave me very specific instructions. I did not eat for 48 hours but I did drink after 12 hours but no booze, no caffeine,no orange juice, no cigarettes, no candy or anything you suck on (you'll pull the scabs loose) or anything with salt. Soup and jello, yogurt, cottage cheese, ice cream, cheesecake, whipped sweet potatoes, diluted tomato juice and gingerale (all things I like) were what I started with. The sockets have to scab over so don't gargle either til they tell you. I got oxycontin when he pulled mine so the pain was minor and I slept a lot! By day 3 you will start to feel human again but food won't be very interesting for the first week. You'll be pretty mended by the second week but it will probably be 6 weeks before all the swelling and tenderness is gone and they fit you for false teeth, otherwise I hear it is very uncomfortable and the teeth never fit right..

What happens when displaced teeth knocked from trauma isnt put back into place immediately?
my father in law took approx two weeks to start gumming things down, and suchhe mainly ate soup and soft cereal etc until then.
the pain shouldn't last but for a few days, make sure you take something for it, but not asprin, as it tends to thin the blood and can cause bleeding, and don't drink from a straw! I learned this one the hard way after getting my wisdom teeth removed.
Well I just 4 of mine removed and it took about a close to two weeks now problem is trying to eat hard foods because it doesn't really hurt but it is very irritating
can my teeth get better by putting my retainer back on?
Every person is different so healing time will differ between each person. I would try to place moisten tea bags on the area where the pain is.this will help make the swelling go down and help the pain. east very soft foods at first this will help also to get your jaw moving but with little amounts of movement. Mashed potatoes pudding jello will be good things to try. Try not to eat things that are to hot this will irritate the area. Also take motrin for the pain that will help also.good luckWhere do you go for after hours dentist problems?
Your pain may slowly go away in the next few days and then just be sore for a week or two depending on how difficult your extractions where. If you was not given any prescriptions I recommend taking Advil, Motrin, or plain ibuprofen. They have anti-inflammatory agents in them and will help with swelling which my be part of your pain. Make sure to be careful not to lose the blood clots in the sockets where the teeth was or you can end up with dry socket. In this case your pain will be extended or even worsen until it is able to form new gum tissue. Ways to help prevent loosing blood clots include not smoking, not drinking through a straw, not spitting or rinsing too hard. If your pain is unbearable for too many days you should ask your dentist if you might have dry socket. If so they can probably help you to form new clots and insert a special paste to help with your pain.Try to eat food not too hot or cold. Make sure you eat! You need your strength to heal and taking medication on a empty stomach not a good ideal. Start by drinking ensure, then you can try to eat soft things like mash potatoes, stove top stuffing(soft), pasta, yogurt, pudding, whip cream(yummy) just to name a few.
