Go back to the dentist and have him/her take an xray. A root canal is preferable to an extraction.

Hi!

I would suggest u get an x-ray done for that tooth and you would find the solution. Looking at your x-ray..if your tooth cavity is quite deep where it touches the root..then i guess the doc would suggest u go in for RCT (root canal treatment)..which would be completed in 3-4 sittings which would also explain y RCTs are expensive to fillings... else you'd have to refill it.

Unlike fillings, RCTs are done by giving local anesthesia to that tooth alone...which makes the entire procedure pain-free.

PS: RCTs are not done for wisdom teeth ..as its difficult to get there..so usually an extraction is done if its bad.

Hope this helps :)
I'm just agreeing with CCTCC and Pink. If it hurts at night, it's probably because you are laying down. Put your head on an extra pillow or sleep in a recliner until you get this tooth taken care of. It will help.
