How much longer before i get my braces off?

Question:

i got my braces about 7 monhts ago, and my teeth we're really bad, now they all are pretty much in the right spot, they moved rpaidly. the ortho said i ll need braces for 22-24 months. But my teeth are probaly going to be perfect in about another 2 months, do you think the orth said 22-24 months as a worst case thing, how much lnger you think i will have these things?

i think you should ask your ortho because braces are pretty unpredictable in most cases. i was only supposed to have my braces for 18 months but i ended up having them for 24 so when she said 22-24 months she may have been giving a pretty reasonable time frame. just because you think that they are pretty much in the right place doesnt mean that they really are. i thought my teeth were fine, but they werent when i got braces. basically, just check with your ortho

There is no way that anybody on the net can answer that but. generally a dentist keeps the braces on for two years.

The orthodontist said 22-24 months. Are you having a comprehension problem or are you trying to second-guess the professional?

it's possible your orthodontist is trying to correct your bite as well as straighten your teeth; hard to say from this!

Some people get away w/ 18 months adn sometimes only a year. Aren't you going in to get the braces checked/ajdusted ever few weeks anyway? ask the orthodontist then. :)

That is a question that even your orthodontist cannot answer. Everyone is different and the braces do not come off until the teeth are in the proper position. Then you will have to wear a retainer to keep the teeth in position or all the work will be for nothing.
Next time you go for your visit ask the Dr. for an idea. He may be able to give you an estimate of how long the braces will have to stay on.

I think all orthos tell their patients that as a standard time because when I got my braces Jan 2005, they told me me 24 months which would be Jan 2007 but when I went last week, the ortho stated she didn't think they would come off in Jan. and my teeth are very straight. I think you should just continue to ask the ortho and play it by ear.

you will not have your braces removed after 9 months. So get used to the 2 year plan. it's that simple.
