is it very necessary to fill the cavities or one can live with open cavities with some extra care.?

Hi I'm a dental assistant,
Yes Cavities need to be filled!
Reason being is that they will not go away with extra care, what will happen is the cavity will get bigger and eventually reach the nerve, once this happens, the nerve will be irritated and die, and it can cause infection, which can be very painful Once this has happened the only way to save the tooth is a root canal (which is very expensive), or pull it!
So if you want to save you teeth and some money have a filling done!

I don't think it's good for you... plus it'll get worse and start to hurt.
yes its neccesary, or it'll get worse.
Cavities will just get worse if they are not filled. There is no "extra care" that can be taken to prevent further decay if the tooth isn't filled.
The decay will get worse and spread to the other teeth if not taken care of.
Failing to fill cavities tends to leave nerves open to hot and cold items which will make you wish you were dead, upon contact. Plus, you can shred your tongue on the sharp edges left over.
nah man, theyre only get worse the longer you let em go. trust me, its a lot less painful in the long run to get em filled then having to have a root canal cuz all ur nerves are dead...get it done asap
once you have a cavity, it will continue to grow unless it is cleaned out and capped or filled. otherwise, your tooth will eventually rot out and that will cause SEVERE pain and lead to the need for a root canal
Ouch! Get those cavities filled.
If you don't have them filled, you will get painful abscesses and infections. You could lose all of your teeth and the infection could go into your system and kill you. It is very foolish not to get dental care.
no they eventually abscess so take care of them or they do you in
Yes, have them filled, PLEASE! One "can live" with open cavities, but it can become painful. The more you neglect your dental health the worse shape you will be in later on.

You may reference my 1st question as an example. Please don't let this happen to you.
An open cavity will continue to decay down to the root and endanger the tooth--not to mention the godawful pain. If you get it filled now, you can avoid expensive root canal ($400 +) or possible loss of tooth. Bite the bullet (no pun intended) and get to the dentist now!
If you don't have the cavities filled, they will continue to cause more and more tooth decay. You need to have them filled. And also they will hurt.
Depending on the severity of the cavity. If it is just the start of a cavity, then sometimes it can remineralize and wont need to be filled. I don't think you are talking about this type of cavity though. Cavities will eventually get worse, it is only a matter of time. Just depends on the amount of cavity causing bacteria that you have in your mouth.
The problem with cavities is that they are hard to clean, so even if you could stop the progression of the decay, it would start again easily because of food debris and bacteria that can not be cleaned out thoroughly enough. Decayed tooth structure is soft and collects and holds on to bacteria much easier than smooth, hard intact healthy tooth structure.
Bottom line, you need to get them taken care of. You may be able to wait a little bit, but they could easily get worse and need more treatment to fix the teeth.
