OH NO! Cavities!?
Question:
Answers:
Cavities work like this most of the time.
You can't tell when you have a very small one. Only your dentist/hygienest can. This is when a filling will almost always do the trick.
Once it gets a bit larger, that tooth becomes sensitive to hot/cold and sweets. This is when a root canal is typically prescribed. They do not take a week to "get over". As long as the root canal is finished in one visit, the nerves are dead and the tooth is fine. Although you may need to see your general dentist for a permanent crown on molars.
Once the tooth is very painful and or falling apart an extraction is usually the best bet.
Again, this is what typically happens. Sometimes people have broken off/very rotten teeth and they don't hurt at all. But that's kindly unusual.
So take care of cavities while they are small and your teeth should stay in pretty good shape! And save you lots of money!
i dont kno but cavities spread dont they? then if u wait too long all ur teeth will have cavities lol
I think if the cavity gets too bad you will need the tooth pulled. A root canal won't help it. If you have untreated cavities, the situation is already bad. Get you teeth fixed before you don't have any to fix.
cavitys can go for prob a couple weeks (at least 5-6 or 7 maybe) before it gets so serious that it needs a root canal...but thats still no excuse to wait that long.
Recovering from a cavity filling is only like a day or so.
Recovering from a root canal, is a week, eating only soft food.
I say its better to have it fixed before it gets to severe.
