Had a tooth pulled out?
Question:
Is it normal that my mouth is still bleeding a bit sometimes? How long will it take for the hole in my gum to get better? And what can I eat that won't hurt my teeth? I have to go and get more fillings done next week and I'll starve if I don't find something to eat!
Answers:
Hi lucy
sometimes your gums can still bleed after an extraction but your dentist should have given you something to help stop your bleeding, if so bite on it for about 10mins. if the bleeding has not stopped soon go back to your dentist.
everyone is different but sometimes it can take a while for your gum to heal, your dentist may have already told you to do a salt water rinse 3 times a day as this helps the gum to heal.
You should be able to eat soft things such as eggs, soup or fish etc.. but chew on the other side of your mouth. but please dont starve yourself as you will only feel worse.
Hope you feel better soon

well, if its only bleeding a bit, thats ok, i had 4 taken out (2 at a time) and it was extremely painful when the anasthetic wore off.i was living off soups for abt 4 days untill i risked eating solids again.if u think its bleeding a bit too much u'll have to check with ur dentist, bt if its only a little trickle, that should heal in a few days; the hole in ur gum will stay there and eventually ur other teeth with fill up the space when they move.dont worry, try soaking bread in tea or something like that - just soft things..take care and get well soon
Eat all smushy foods, bananas soup without the stuff just the broth..and stuff, and yes its normal for all of that, but if it really hurts, have your mum or da, call the dentist to give you something stronger for the pain so that you at least can eat in peace..
Something like Percocet or Vicodine.
it will bleed slightly do not use a straw or the blood clot will come off it you could get dry socket and that hurts you should be better in a week , try to eat soft foods like fish, and drink boost, bless ya try just eating pureed food for a while dont panic to much about it bleeding as im sure every time you go to eat any thing or dring ought it just knocks it but mention it to your dentist when you are next there sure you will b all healed soon
I am 22 and have had two oral surgeries in the past three years. First one I had 14 teeth taken out and the second I had 8 (very soft teeth). I found that just about anything goes with chicken broth! Crackers softened with broth is always good if you want something savory, jello, pudding, soft breads (maybe a PB&J?). Just about anything soft that you could feed a toddler will work for you to eat. Don't jump for a steak just yet. the bleeding and pain will stop soon enough..give it time. In the meantime, find things to occupy your mind and you won't even think about the pain. Trust me I've been there.
Be thankful that you don't have to wear dentures over your bleeding gums and try to eat. That really hurts. I lost 15 pounds in a week. Definetly not a good diet.
God help you if you have a baby when your older.
