My 10 year old has a pink discolored baby tooth, and it is not from food. Do you know why?
Question:

Could be one of 2 things:
1)Hyperplastic pulpitis: The nerve in the tooth is sick and it is causing the pulp chamber to grow inside the tooth, giving it a pink appearance. Should be extracted
2)Baby teeth get real hollow before they come out. Sometimes the gum tissue gets trapped underneath the hollow tooth and inflames. If this is the case, the tooth should be loose and on its way out soon.
My advice would be to pull it yourself if its pretty loose, or otherwise see a dentist. If it is a hyperplastic pulp, it could be at risk for abscess.
Most 10 year olds have lost their baby teeth by now. I wouldn't worry about it. I am sure it will be gone soon. It could be from other things besides food: a mouthwash, fluoride treatment, medication she has taken in the past, you may have a lot of iron in your drinking water, etc. I would be more concerned about her adult teeth.
