What's the price range of a tooth extraction (wisdom tooth) for somebody with no medical insurance?

Question:

Answers:
It depends. If it's easy to take out -->cost less, or other the way around. I think Jennifer W is right about the prices, you should "shop" around.

Other Answers:
Medical insurance may not cover this anyway.

Call around. Each surgeon has their own prices. You will most likely have to go to an oral surgeon for this, unless the teeth are not impacted or infected. There may even be a community clinic that offers dentistry by licensed professionals at reduced or on an "pay what you can" basis.
Expect to pay between $100-$200 per tooth. Good luck
Some insurances do cover wisom teeth extraction, but since you don't have insurance, the best thing to do is just call around and price oral surgeons.
I'd vote for Justine's answer of $100-200 in most dental offices. An oral surgeon would generally be 25-50% higher. If you want general anesthesia, that can be up to $500 or so on top of the surgical fee. Just to give you an idea...
A whole lot of money! My boss had some teeth pulled with insurance and they only cover a part of the operation. She had to pay like $600! It's funny with dental. They only cover certain things like cleaning and fill-ins. A lot of the stuff is considered cosmetic so the insurance doesn't cover it or only covers a small portion of it. It really stinks! If you are having financial problems, see if they have a payment plan or maybe have one tooth done at a time if that's all you can afford. Find out how much it costs first and then make your decision.
The problem is, most dentists will laugh in your face if you walk in without a dental plan, or willing to pay in cash upfront. Thats just the way things work. Cost depends on where you live, but even a teeth cleaning is expensive. There is an option for people like you though. There is a very inexpensive dental plan that can help you with that. It doesnt pay 100%, but can save you signifcant money, and most dentists are good about taking payments if you at least have a plan of some sort. Read on:
