Any remedy besides drugs for severe toothache, after filling was placed?

Question:
I had a bad cavity in the back of my mouth. They were fortunate not to hit the nerve while drilling, so they gave me a filling. Now, my whole left side is hurting, my tooth, my gums, even my lower teeth, when the filling was on top. It hurts in my jaw, clear to my ear. I am alternating Ibuprofen and Vicodin every two hours, per doctor's orders. But, the pain is so bad. Is it going to get better? Has anyone ever experienced this much pain after getting a filling from a cavity that was very deep? Please help me, I am hurting so bad...How long will it be like this? I cannot even drink water, it hurts too much when it touches my tooth...

Answers:

Some dentist are using the pressure point instead of injections.
