i am not familiar with this appliance but with other ortho appliances using a waterpik helps dislodge the food debris left after eating. most likely i would expect you to be very tender after having it placed. i would even take 2 ibuprophen BEFORE i went and a couple more after i got home. make sure you have softer food and snacks available in case you are too sore to chew hard or chewy things. icecream, yogurts, banana's mashed potaotes, baked potatoes ect..
