Do they braces hurt?

Question:
i am getting braces so i think they are going to hurt

Answers:
Don't worry simply take some Tylenol or Advil about 30 minutes before you go. And they really don't hurt when they put them in. But after a while when you try to bite something they do feel unsupportable. But do not worry after a while you don't even feel them. Besides the pain doesn't even last but one (at most) two days. And I got so well used to the feeling after visits that it didn't even hurt towards the last year. I know what did make the pain go away was that I would bite down hard and press my teeth it even felt good sometimes. I don't know if thats just only me but it helped. Also since your just starting be very very careful. I don't know if it was me or the braces but they seem really delicate at first. Oh and I just remembered their is something that does make the pain go away. Except I forgot what its called I believe it has to do with roses and that its organic. Good luck trying to find that substance and good luck with your braces
They hurt the first week or so, then you get used to it. But I get all these sores in my mouth from the brackets digging into my lips, so I advise you ask your orthodontist for a lot of wax...
take pain medicine as soon as you leave the dentist. the pain hits you fast. but its not horrible its just uncomfortable.
When you first have them put on, they will make your mouth/gums sore. You can take tylenol or ibprofen before going in to have them put on. It will not hurt the entire time you wear them. Just the first few days and possibly when they need tightened.
I got them 2 weeks ago. While they put them on it doesn't hurt. It feels weird but not painful. It hurts to eat. For 4 days, every time I ate it hurt.So I just ate soup. But then u just get used to it over time. Anyways, don't worry it won't hurt when they put it on, it just hurts to eat or bite into something.
well, when they first put them on, for the first few weeks they will b unconfturtable but then u will get used to them. when u do get them, i mean on the day, it will hurt alot if your teeth are really out or crucket, but only cuz it tightens your teeth, but if there not that crucket, then it won`t hurt as much. don`t be scared though, they will put them on, it will only hurt for a little while, then you won`t even feel them. good luck.if u get pain, just take advil or tylenol for it.
Unfortunately, yes, but it is not a sharp pain. Dentists know how tight to adjust the braces to keep the discomfort more or less managable.

The duration of the pain depends on your treatment plan but in my case, this lasted for 2-3 weeks before it started to subside.

By that time it starts to feel ok again, you'll probably need to get them tightened and the cycle just starts all over again.

You do get use to it though (sort of). But trust me, it is worth it at the end. So, grin and bear it and just think about the nice smile you will have at the end of the process.
the short answer is yes but its well worth it in the end
i think it just depends. a lot of people have said that they hurt and some people say that they dont. i suggest bringing a pain reliever to the orthodontist. i need braces to! and good luck. its going to be rewarding in the end. but if you dont brush your teeth well your teeth wont turn out so good.
good luck.
i didn't find mine painful untill about 12 months in. thats when they strated changing wires and such..
wax will be a very good friend.
