Would it fix my underbite faster if I wore 2 rubbers on each side of my braces instead of one?

my step father is an orthodontist and I can tell you honestly the answer is yes and no. In order to move your teeth the gums and roots need to be shifted. If you shift to much you run the risk of breakage. Breakage means false teeth btw. If not breakage then an underbite. Or even crooked teeth. I understand you wanna get rid of them but trust me after the (what feels like) 10000000 years that you have them in your teeth will be nice and straight
eww braces i remember those things, um yeah theoretically it should speed things up a bit. did your orthodontist recommend it?
Without knowing from an orthodontist point of view and education, simply personal experience
When I used 2 rubber bands, it shifted my teeth quickly, but made them hurt a lot, to the point they'd wake me up at night. It was also more difficult to open my jaw to talk when I had 2x rubber bands on.
However, it did seem to shorten my time that I wore braces, and I'm very happy with the results.
I advise you to talk with your orthodontist about this one before you do it. If you torque your teeth too much or too fast, you can do damage, or misalign them.
Good Luck
You really should just listen to what your orthodontist says. Braces are great for making teeth look nice, but their first function is making your teeth fit together. If you moved them too fast, you run the risk of killing the teeth. Also, you could over correct the issues and end up with the opposite problem. Braces take a long time, but moving them too fast makes all the work you have done so far a complete mess and runs the risk of killing your teeth. Be patient and trust your dentist. If you go against their recommendation, it could end up costing you more in the end for them to fix it.
