Should i let my 8 year old son get braces??

Question:
my son has 4 of his adult teeth but there coming in crooked and plus one of his adult tooth is on top of his baby tooth. he needs a tooth extraction. but should i wait to put braces on him since the rest of his teeth are his baby teeth and there gonna fall out anyway?? what do i do?

Answers:
You should see an orthodontist. My daughter had the same problem. The problem with waiting till all the baby teeth fall out is, the adult teeth will start growing in crooked. The orthodontist will give you son a space maintainer. It is perfectly normal to get braces that young. His mouth is still growing and the reason for the Miss aligned teeth re that his mouth is small, and the new adult teeth have no room. It's a good idea.
Why don't you take him to an orthodontist?
you are supposed to wait till all the baby teeth fall out until you put braces on your teeth. Thats what my orthodontist told my mom.

good luck
wait til they fall out
I don't know of any orthodontist that will put braces on a eight year old unless they had their adult teeth. The kids at my child's school didn't have braces until fifth grade. I had mine in fourth grade.
Have you seen a dentist/orthodontist? I would do that first and see what they think. I had braces on my four top front teeth only when I was 8 and then when I was 14 I had them on all my teeth, so I know you can do that. Personally I would wait, to save a few bucks, but I do know that it is possible and can help later when you have to get the whole mouth done.
Not unless you want to have them put on twice.
Most of the time, an orthodontist will wait until your son has a bit more adult dentition (teeth). Sometimes, these types of problems will work themselves out. It wouldn't hurt to go have a consult appointment with the orthodontist though.
I had the same problem and when I went to the Ortho, he told me that we should wait until almost all of my baby teeth had fallen out and then get the braces because more problems could develop once all the adult teeth came in and I would have to get braces on again. I got mine on when I was about 10 1/2, I just had to live with the crooked teeth until I only had 2 baby teeth left, and I got them pulled because the adult teeth were coming in. I would tell him to keep working with the baby tooth that is under the adult tooth or it could stick out and make his experience with braces even longer. Tell him to try and get the baby tooth out as soon as possible! Good luck!
1. ask his dentist what he thinks, because my dentist was the first person who told em to consider having braces
2. go to an orthodontist and see what they say
3. it does sound liek he may need braces though...
its a good thing to do, i mean i know its expensive and time consuming but it is WORTH IT you will see major changes.
but maybe you might have to wait because sometimes theres a chance things might just work out, but if there are still problems in a little while and if they are disrupting his other teeth than he may need them
i think you should wait about 2 or 3 years b/c otherwise he would have to get all his baby teeth pulled in order for the braces to go on or there will only be braces on those 4 teeth and that wouldn't help b/c when his other teeth finally do come in his permanent teeth will be straight and the others wont so it would be a longer process
