Hey,
Hah, this might not sound like a 13 year old talking to you, but it is! :D
Okay, here's the breakdown, thanks to heavy research in the orthodontic field, there are many choices in making braces less noticable.
I personally am already looking into lingual braces, since all i have is a minor anterior crossbite, and I could probably avoid lowers anyway.
Anyway, metal braces are a classic. People always think they're going to get made fun of for getting them, but if you look around MANY people you see walking around have, had, or are going to have braces. They're a common thing in this world. I view them as improving your health. Having properly aligned teeth brings better oral hygiene. Metal braces are also the most obvious though, so if you're really after them not being noticed, then don't go for these, but if you're really not looking into spending alot of money, traditional braces are the cheapest kind of braces you'll find.
The ones I'm looking into, lingual braces, are just like traditional metal braces, except they are bonded to the back of your teeth, so they aren't easily detected. They will be noticed, though, if you have spaces in your teeth, and people might look at them trying to figure out what's behind your teeth. These braces are also more expensive, and instead of getting sores on your cheeks and lips, your tongue is going to be sore from rubbing on the brackets. You might also speak with a lisp when you first get them, but you should get used to them within two weeks.
Now, I'm not sure of what you mean by "clear ones", Invisalign or ceramic braces, so I'll explain both.
Ceramic braces are like traditional braces, except the porcelain material is considered either "tooth colored" or "clear" because people tend not to notice them from a distance, although up close I personally think they make your teeth look lumpy. Some people might stare to try to figure out what's on your teeth. These tend to take longer, because the porcelain produces more friction with the wire than metal. The clear ligatures you will have to wear to keep the wire in place with the bracket will stain easy, so you are going to have to watch what you eat more than with other types of braces. The ceramic brackets also tend to be a little more fragile than metal brackets which also makes removal a bit more lengthy, most of the time the brackets dont come off in one piece, and they have to be filed off the tooth. They are also more expensive than traditional braces.
Invisalign is a series of plastic aligners worn all the time, except when brushing and eating. You get a new aligner every two weeks, so your treatment time is generally known. Invisalign aligners also cannot correct some problems, such as bringing a tooth down to level. Not everyone is a candidate for them either. These are very costly to, but they are virtually invisible from just a few feet away, up close, if you look hard enough, you can see the plastic.
And lastly, of what I can think of at this moment, are the Damon braces. This system is alot like traditional braces, except the brackets are smaller, and they are known to work faster than traditional braces. There is less friction between the wire and the bracket, and the brackets are smaller, making them a choice for people who are worried about their appearance. Many people who dont mind the look of metal on their teeth go for these because of the fact that they are smaller and quicker. Of course, as you can guess, they are more expensive than traditional braces.
You can combine the different types of braces to make them as least noticable as possible.
If I just absolutely can't avoid bottom brackets, I will probably go for plain metal on the bottom, since even when I talk, they don't show much.
Depending on your needs and wants, you have many ways to go. If I wasn't into modeling and stuff, I would just get normal metal ones, but unfortunately, my photographer doesn't like them.
Good luck and have fun with your orthodontic experience.

Red braces will look awesome
What?? Are you talking about color? Cuz the color of your braces doesn't effect the time you'll wear them at all. I still wouldn't get clear though, because they get stained really fast. Get silver.
Dont get the clear ones, if you eat curry or coloured foods they'll turn orange within a day! Just get the plain metallic ones, if ugly betty can rock them, so can you. Stick it out for 6 months. They are quicker than any other one. Or get the invisible ones that tom cruise got. Your ortho should know, I havent seen your teeth so I dont know what to tell ya in detail.
well there are 3 types from what i know: the invisible ones called invisalign, the traditional metal ones, and ones similar to the traditional ones except they are lighter weight and smaller..you really have to talk to your ortho first but i have the smaller ones on my top and traditional metal ones on the bottom, but you dont see the bottom anyways
i guess i would suggest getting the lgihter weight ones because you dont get "coloured bands" or anything they anlways stay the same so you dont have to get a colour put into your mouth...and im someone who wants them to look as clear as possible
they work the exact same i believe and i think theyve worked great for me so far
My son just got Damon braces. They are metal braces, but the brackets are smaller. They look nice. Good Luck.
i got silver because the clear stain.
