Answers:

if it bugs you that much like it did me, you can go buy these little mouthgaurd like things...
www.dentakit.com
you can get wax from your ortho. it will help with the wires...OR if they are too long you can ask them to cut them some more.
dont worry i got braces on 1 week ago and i eating normal food and my teeth dont hurt anymore, about the wire i had to get mine cut by the orthodontist
If wax doesnt stick you can use sugar free chewing gum
go to your ortho and they'll give you wax to put over it or they'll clip some of the wire off if it is the wire that is causing these problems...other than that normal food probably 1 to 2 weeks.
Yes, at first you'll get some blisters in your mouth. Ask your orthodontist to get some wax. You can eat normal food but be careful, don't bite directly into stuff and try to avoid chewy, sticky foods.
If it's really bad, call your orthodontist and get the wires cut shorter. My orthodontist gave me a pair of cutters for emergencies, but they are VERY hard to use (and if you miss, you're in the ER!). I would have them do it.
Otherwise, you get VERY used to the shredding of the sides of your mouth. Your cheeks become very resilient. I know it sounds nasty, but you really do get used to it. Wait a week, if it's still just as bad, go see your orthodontist.
Good luck getting a beautiful smile!
It may take a week or two before you can eat solid food again. As for the pain it may just be soreness from the new bracess. Your ortho should have given you some little wax stips to put on ocasionally. If the pain doesn't go away or you still seem to feel a jabbing you may have a lose wire and you would want to go back and get it checked. In the meantime just hang in there
Go back and have the dentist cut them for you, or put the wax on them, the hurting won't last for too long maybe a week or 2 at most. You can start eating normally when they stop hurting, just don't eat extremely hard things. I've ruined my braces already... the brackets keep coming off and so has the tooth band in the back, and then a centimeters of wire snaped off in the right bottom side becuase I had alot of teeth pulled for my braces and they haven't grown in though its been over 9 or 10 months already. I'm the patient dentists dread to have.
When I had braces (about 25 years ago). We were given wax, that you roll into a small ball to cover any wires that stick out and save it from cutting inside your mouth.
When you go back to the dentist he will cut those long bits off, so at each visit when he tightens the braces make sure you run your tongue around and smile and do some facial expressions to see if you can feel any sharp bits.
And ring your dentist now and ask how long you have to wait before you can eat - you should have either asked that at the appt or he should have given you some paperwork on the care of your braces.
They are worth it love - my teeth are perfect and my son will definitely be having them too.
You can't beat a perfect set of chompers!
The wire may need to be trimmed a little more. Go back to the office. In the meantime, take Tylenol and use the wax you were given.
It takes awhile to eat normal food.
Welcome to the club.
I'm 13 months into a 24 month mouth sentence.
When you get the irritation within the mouth, be sure to gargle warm salty water.
1 cup warm water & 1/2 tea-spoon salt. Mix and gargle.
When it's really bad, i usually gargled every 20-30 minutes. It's a natural healer.
