Gum and teeth? Urgent!!?
Question:
i'd really like a dentist to help. but anyways, i wear a retainer, and sometimes when i get up in the morning, i take it off, start rinsing and the gum between my two upper front teeth start bleeding, not furiously but a little still! and the tip of it is red like it dried there or is still bleeding and it's not. i don't know what's going on and i've never seen this before. I brush my teeth with an electric tooth brush and i've been brushing softer and i've been gurgling "salty" water for two days. it's getting better but i'm still scared. is this is a really bad health problem? i'm only 11! please help! i'm really scared i don't know what's going to happen. has this ever happened to anyone? is it because of my retainer!! THANKS ALOT A HEAD TIME !! thank you so much!!

Hi! I'm been in dentistry for over 25 years and you need to calm down and relax. Take a breath. This is not a big deal. Two different things could be going on, both are simple and easy to fix. The wire from your retainer may be rubbing on the teeth when you hug the pillow or push on the retainer at night with your hand or arm. This is no big deal. Keep up the salty rinses and this will stop.
If you are a mouth breather, the gum dries out when you sleep and the retainer again could rub on the gum and cause this. Try this. Gently push down and then up on your retainer. See if it rocks at all. Also check to see if the wire can rub the gum. If that is the case, tell your Ortho and have it adjust it. I don't think this is serious and it can also be a left over from moving your teeth. Please don't worry. You are way too young to be sweating out losing teeth that are going no where. RELAX. This is a very simple problem and the dentist can take care of it for you! I promise. Marie
Yeah, Since your 11 the best thing you can do
is tell your parents and if that doesn't work
tell someone you trust and if that doesn't work
look up your local dentist and see if he as an email
and ask him if your afraid to talk on a phone.
Hopefully your **** gets better...
Calm down, don't be scared with that problem. All you need is a help from your dentist but you have to consult your parents first for their final consent before bringing you for a professional medication. You may take alternative help by using OraMD.
