Can excessive smoking cause mouth problems/oral pain aside from cancer?

Question:
I have these bumps on the back of my tongue and sort of like a rash in the center of it. Any ideas?

Answers:
Hi! I've been in dentistry for over 25 years and this is very possible. The smoke from cigarettes is very warm to your mouth when it is dried out, you don't feel it as much when your mouth is wet. But the bumps and rashes can be from too much smoking as well as drinking.
Try this. Rinse with warm salt water 3-4 times a day and right before bed. This will heal and also keep you making more saliva. Keep this up for 2-3 days. That should do it. In the future, drink water when you are smoking and keep you mouth from drying out if you are mouth breather when you sleep. Keep water by your bed. If you have any other questions, please ask. Marie
Well smoking certainly isn't good for you it has all kinds of poison in it. If it can give you lung cancer as well as many other problems it is quite plausible it can be from smoking. Do yourself a favor and quit! You will thank yourself later for it 80)
My mother had trench mouth years ago. Also known as acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis. Its a bacterial infection of the gums.
"Untreated, the infection may lead to rapid destruction of the periodontium and can spread, as necrotizing stomatitis, into neighbouring tissues in the cheeks, lips or the bones of the jaw."
We knew that excessiveness or inadequacy of anything is not good most especially to health. Generally, smoking and hard liquors are harmful to human health and worst if taken excessively. Chemicals from cigarettes and liquors will accumulate and will come to the point that the cells of the body can no longer manage the effects of these chemicals. With respect to oral health, both are very hazardous as they directly affect the mouth. Quit smoking and minimize drinking hard liquors as much as possible.
