Answers:
Your not supposed to do anything that involves sucking, like drinking from a straw or smoking. It could cause you to get a dry socket, and I hear it is very painful.
risk of bacterial infection your face could swell up.
It can cause a dry socket, which is very painful.
I was lead to believe it was to do with alcohol and nicotine effecting the anaesthetic (spelling sorry).
you should smoke at all....
Stops the blood from clotting as drinking and smoking thins it.
Why the hell would you want to smoke anyways?

Seriously, there'd be no point in taking your tooth out, since you're wasting your life "smoking it up", every 2 seconds.

Unless of course, you're not a smoker, then.. it's still not a valid question. Would you smoke with you had a big bloody hole in your mouth? Didn't think so.
Basically you have a raw hole where the tooth was, so having drink and or smoking will put bacteria into that raw bed and then you will get a raging infection.
My mate had her tonsils out and they told her this, also the anaesthetic they use will be affected by the alcohol and the nicotine. So you get drunk quicker and as for the fags i don't know, get your fix quicker. Sorry i don't smoke so i would not know that.
Smoking could cause a dry sockett. I had one it it hurts worse than childbirth. Drinking from a straw can do the same thing.
because your mouth is all floppy from the anestetic and it would all dribble out?!!
You mean, like, forever?
Only joking!
I remember trying to smoke when my lips were still stiff and I dropped the ciggie & burnt a hole in my car seat.
Also, drinking HOT drinks should be avoided. For cold drinks it works if you hold your lips together with your fingers.
Seriously, I imagine it's something to do with allowing the blood in the gaping hole to set properly.
you shouldn't rinse out after having a tooth out as it will stop the blood from clotting as quick...but u can drink after the bleeding has stopped..as for the smoking it can infect the socket and cos a nasty infection called dry socket which is worse than having the tooth out in the first place.
It is mainly to help stop the bleeding.I smoke & has soon as I was out of the dentist I tried to light a cigerette up it was fun & games with a numb mouth.Managed to light it & it made my mouth bleed like mad so serve me right.
