Dry socket cure?
Question:
Answers:
Your symptoms sound totally like you have a dry socket...when you see the oral surgeon tomorrow make sure you tell them exactly what you've described here. They can place a medicated dressing inside the socket (looks like a noodle!) to help keep you comfortable until your own tissue lines the bottom of your extraction site. You can't really help the smell at this point (it's the smell of a blood clot breaking down), but taking ibuprofen (Advil) will help the pain.
Can't do anything about the smell. For the pain, you can take x-strenth Motrin, Tylenol 3 (with scrip), or Vicodin (with scrip). You also might try chewing on a wet tea bag. Steep a tea bag as though you're going to make a strong cup of tea, then stick the tea bag over your dry socket and clamp down. It's gross, but it's something. It's the only thing I was allowed when I had my wisdom teeth pulled.
My mom stuffed some cotton balls inside the hole of
the tooth and took a whole lot of pain pills...
