I have an underbite what kind of braces will i get?

Question:
will i have to get headgear?

Answers:
possibly. ask ur dentist. u probably will have 3 stages of braces.

1st stage u will probably have them in ur back 4 teeth on the top. it will open ur jaw wider

2nd stage: i think on 4 front teeth

3rd stage: on ur entire mouth

this is just a guess. not for sure about u

I had an underbite as well and got regular braces. After you have gotten used to your braces they will probably have you use rubberbands. They will hook to the upper teeth towards the back and on the lower teeth toward the front. This will pull on your teeth as well as you muscles and force the upper teeth forward and the lower teeth backwards. The more often you wear your rubber bands the faster results will occur and the faster you will get your rubber bands off. When I got my braces off I did not wear my retainers as recommended. My teeth did not get crooked again, but I found that my underbite came back a little bit. So wear your retainer and your rubberbands. Braces are about changing the memory of the muscles surrounding your teeth. If you allow them to "forget" what your braces have done, they will simply go back and all that time will be wasted.
