Filling teeth?
Question:
Answers:
Once the decay is removed a filling should be put in its place and if done correctly it should not need to be redone for some time (years not months)

No once they take the cavity out they will fill it with either amalgam or composite/resin filling and usually it doesn't come out for years. However, I did see a case where the tooth started to decay under the filling because the amalgam wasn't packed in there very tightly and food went into it and it started decaying, but if you have a good dentist this shouldn't be a problem.
Well if you get your tooth filled for a minor decay then you do not need to get it redone for a few years at least. I got around 5 teeth filled in 2003 March and till now they are perfect. You can also get a cap made for your filled tooth so that it is more safe.
But if the decay is major then you will have to go in for a root canal treatment. If you get that tooth filled then the filling would not last for long.
So take good advise from your dentist.
