Has anybody gotten a shot at the dentist lately? Please tell me about your experience?

Yes..I had one for a filling..I've had ten shots on top and ten on bottom when I had four teeth pulled for my braces..
It's really no big deal..The dentist I went to was very easy and gentle and I only felt a small stab, then a little coldness in my gum where he was inserting the numbing medicine..After that you really don't feel much at all bc your mouth goes numb.
My dentist also held a q-tip that had numbing stuff on it to numb the spot before he gave me the shot..which helped a lot I'm sure!
But I also went to a dentist once that was very painful...He didn't numb the area first and he shoved the needle in very roughly and it felt like it went through my eyeball and I hurt for days afterwards..I haven't been back to him ever and never will again. Actually, I don't think it would have even been that bad if he didn't q-tip numb it anyway, but he was so rough, he just gouged it right in quickly.
Maybe you can ask your dentist what his procedure is or ask him to use the numbing q-tip..also let them know you are a little afraid of shots, I always let any new dentist I visit know that so they can be prepared and make me more comfortable.
Don't worrry...it really is no big deal and it takes like 5 seconds tops..in and out...then you feel nothing!
I had to get a cavity filled a few days ago and got a shot, it was great i couldn't feel my face for like 2hr. kind fun, the shot doesn't hurt, just a pinch
I got the shot that numbs your whole mouth. Once my mouth went numb, it stayed numb for several hours. I couldn't talk and I kept biting my tongue. The tingling drove me crazy! Then, when the numbness went away, the pain cam through from the huge needled he used. That hurt like the dickens for about 3 days until those little poke holes heeled.
i had to get 4 teeth pulled and i was soooooo!! scared i hate shots like all the way and i was just soo scared and i had to get 4 shots 2 on top of my roof and two inbetween my lip and teeth and only the last one hurt but not that bad but that was the worst i just sit their and dont even think anything about at all and im only 13!!
I just got a shot thursday for a tooth extraction... I went in was so nervous that I was slurring my words and after they gave it too me I was like..Is that it? the numb the area before the actual shot so you just feel a little sting right before and then it burns just a little bit then it goes completely numb. Its really not that big of a deal.. Im a big baby and if I can do it anyone can.
I don't think the shots are a big deal they are more weird feeling then painful, just a bit uncomfortable. They numb you before sticking the needle in which helps a lot. It only lasts for a few seconds-no biggie
