I just got braces!!?

Question:
My teeth hurt 2 much 2 brush and its only my sescond day!!!
how long will this last and how can i brush them???

Answers:
It hurts really bad for a few days (maybe 2-4), then gets better. The bad news is every time you go back to the ortho, he tightens the braces and they hurt for a few more days.

You just have to grin and bear it.
when i got braces they hurt for 3-4 days
didn't the dentist tell you
Well you will hurt for a few days, take some Mortion and try to brush the best that you can or use some mouth wash.
It's shouldn't last longer than today or tommrow but you have to brush then softly when your teeth hurt and then after the pain it gone you can brush like you normally do
Take some Advil.
As many times a day as you can for about a week.
And yes, you NEED to brush them.
Or you will have little white ugly squares on your teeth when you take them off.
But..
the pain shouldn't last too much longer.
I feel your pain!! I just got my bottom ones on Tuesday with bands!
It usually takes mine at least 3-4 days before I can stand to chew anything. Right now I'm eating soup and advil!
I can't use my electric toothbrush either, it hurts too bad. I have a waterpik that I use on low pressure.
If you can't brush very good, be sure and use a good mouthwash often, to kill bacteria.
Take ibuprofen or naproxen for the pain. Ask your mom or dad if they will let you take a prescription dose of either of these meds. The aching will subside in a day or so but for now brush gently and use the pain meds in a prescription dosage if your parents will let you.
That will only last a few days!! Just brush as best you can...a good investment is a water pik..it shoots water and gets lots of junk out of your braces! They are great.. just take some tylenol or something and you'll be fine!! don't worry! it goes away and its worth it!
I've had braces for three years now. When I first got them on, they hurt for a good week. Try to stay on a really soft diet. And don't worry, adjustments don't hurt nearly as much as getting them on =]
In my case it lasted about 4 days... I didn't think it would have hurt as much as it did when i first got mine. at least you didn't get them the day before prom. It made that night agony.
Sorry about the pain. Both my brothers have gotten braces, they complained about the pain but within the week, less than 7 days they said the pain was less so.
Even if it hurts you should still try to brush, braces are excellent methods for plaque to develop, means people get lazy brushing and with the wire it obstructs so brushing is incomplete.
Maybe switch to a Softer brush, brush longer but with less pressure, to help use a mouth wash.
breath. it'll hurt now and everytime they tighten them.

Give it a week, you should be fine after that.

sorry you're in pain, I had them too!
i have braces too.. brush gently and slowly.. use an ortho brush.. dont eat hard foods, it might remove your brackets,.it will hurt so much when your orthodentist put it back.. dont worry, you will feel normal after 1 week.. :)youwill have to go back to your orthodentist and have it tighten.. it will hurt again but, just for 4 days only.. goodluck and a nice perfect smile awaits you.. remember.. in every success, there are always sacrifices.. youll get used of it soon.. smile.. :)
It will go away, don't worry, the first 3 or 4 days can be rough though. And yes brushing can be hard, i used to just carry moutwash with me and rinse regularly. And use toothpicks to get the "gunk" out. Also taking ibuprofen helps, it takes down the swelling, which is causing the pain, and makes it to where you can acutally eat food with a substance instead of liquids! Take care of your teeth:) its all worth it in the end
It will last for a few days only, depending on how diligently you take care of your braces. If you have ulcer, use an mouth-swish. Brush using a soft brush. Brush gently, take your time. It will be fine. Consume soft food. I'm sorry to say that only porridge and congee are the best for people with difficulty chewing.
