My gums are swollen what should i do?

Question:
My gums are kind of swollen and u can almost see through the bottom of my top front teeth. What can i do to help this? I bursuh my teeth twice a day sometimes 3 times.

Answers:
I am going to take a stab at the reason and say it is gingivitis.
Gingivitis is the inflammation or infection of the gums caused by buildup. There are two kinds of buildup, soft sticky plaque (and when that hardens) that turns into tartar, which is hard like cement. If you haven't had a cleaning you should see your dentist or hygienist for a checkup, xrays (if needed) and a cleaning. During the cleaning the plaque and tartar will be removed. Although you can remove plaque at home flossing and with brushing 2-3 times a day the tartar cannot be removed by you because it is too hard and often inaccessible. You must get rid of this infection or it can evolve into periodontal disease, which is when the bone surrounding your teeth begins to breakdown. Dental (mouth) health is directly related to a healthy body...For now warm salt water rinsing may help. And it is actually pretty normal to see through the edges of the front teeth, they are normally much thinner than the back molar teeth.
Hope that helps!

You might be brushing too hard, try using a softer tooth brush.
start taking vitamin c500mg daily and try a softer brush, plus a salt gargle during the day...
floss well but be gentle.
You might be skipping flossing and rinsing with medicinal mouthwash.

Once they have a buildup of tartar from bacteria your gums start to swell and bleed. You need to get a thorough cleaning and scaling at a dentist and then do brushing/flossing/rinsing as per their instructions.
Thomas--you have to see a periodontist. You will lose your teeth.
