Retainers affect on bonded front teeth?

Question:
I was thinking about getting my two front teeth bonded, however I wear a retainer full time, and will do so for 2 more months, then for 6 months nighttime only, would the retainer affect the bonding?, should I go ahead and get the bonding work done?
Thanks

Hi! I've been in dentistry for over 25 years. No, I would wait until you are out of the retainer. The constant pressure of the retainer on the bonding can cause it to snap off and be a waste of monies and time. Once you are out, get the bonding done and you don't have to worry about. A few more months will not make a difference and you will save yourself the grief of having to do it over. Also I would get a box of Crest Strips and wear them a few months off and on before you get the bonding so you can whiten you teeth and get an exact match of bonding material. Then I think you will look fantastic! So brush, floss, rinse and use the strips (as directed) and then bond, you will be thrilled. M
