Dry Sockets?? Help please??!!?

Question:
I had all four of my impacted wisdom teeth removed a week ago Tuesday. I found out last Monday that the bottom two were dry sockets, so now I have two holes on either side of my gums that hurt like CRAZY! When I went to the dentist and they told me about the dry sockets they flushed them and then placed a small round piece of packing in it. They did this on both sides but one of my gums hasn't healed completely and has a larger hole then the other side. When I cleaned that side out this morning the 2nd time I flushed it the small piece of packing they put in the came out. It doesn't hurt bad now but it hurt a little bit afterwards. Is this supposed to happen?? They didn't say anything about that happening?? I am kind of worried... I know it would make sense to go back to the dentist however, I am at work until 5pm. So I am just wondering if anyone else experienced this?

Answers:
The packings that they placed are going to have to be taken out anyways. Once those packings are removed you will have holes still in your gums that will need to heal. Make sure that you keep the sockets very clean so that food does not get trapped. If food does get trapped under the gums once healed you will have a large abscess.
As for now if you are not having any pain I would not be concerned. If the pain comes back you need to go back to the dentist and let them re-pack that side. The only thing that will help a dry socket is the packing that they place in your mouth. Make sure that you keep it clean !
dry socket is osteitis of the socket following tooth removal, usually happen after surgical truma(during surgical removal of your impacted wisdom)
anyway the treatment of choice is gently cleaning of the socket by irrigation then dressing the exposed bone with zinc oxide eugenol packs or any other type of packs ,this is to be done in the clinic ...your role is :chlorohexidine and/or hot salt mouthwashes may help, also you can take paracetamol or ibupofen to reduce the pain, and for the inflammation dentists usually prescribe metronidazole.
