Are the 2 top teeth and 2 bottom teeth separation supposed to meet up?

Question:
I feel silly asking this, but my orthodontist says that I'm getting my braces off in a few weeks, and whenever I smile, the 2 top teeth and 2 bottom teeth separation line are like 1 millimeter off meeting meeting each other... It's kind of like this

I know it's silly to fret about something as small as this, but I was wondering, is it normal to have that "not perfect" alignment??

Answers:
this is called the mid line, in a perfect situation they would meet, but our teeth are not always perfect... the doctors job is to get a nice alignment of the teeth, and a heathly functiuon of the teeth ( so when you eat or talk, the teeth don;t crash into eachother or wear out funny. your doctor may have opted to have your midline "off" so that he/she can close all of the spaces. in never hurts to ask! there are also elastics that can be worn at the end of treatment that will pull things into alignment.
wheres the braces? well those look perfect! and i love your lipstick color =]
Hi! I've been in dentistry for over 25 years and you smile is almost perfect. Your teeth are in alignment and yes, the midline is slightly off, but the results are very good. NO one but you will ever notice this. You smile is gorgeous and the midline is off because your jaw is slightly off. Your Ortho did a great job. Often the jaw bones do not line up perfect, and the ortho has a tough job to bring it in this good. This is mother nature and since your teeth line up perfect, this is the best you can get, and to tell you the truth, he did a great job. NO ONE will ever notice this, I promise. And with the teeth you have, be glad, they look great. M
