I asked a question, about how 2 relax my 5 yr old when getting her cavities filled. I took her 2 the dentist 2day 2 get some cavities filled, She has had 1 cavity filled b4. The dentist that did it, gave her a sedation jucie. It didn't put her 2 sleep, it just relaxed her. This dentist DOES NOTHING OF THAT SORT! they will only give her Novcaine to numb her. I asked them if they could prescrbe me something to give to her before we go to the dentist and they said NO! It was so bad 2day that I had to hold her down, they tried to strap her down and she managed to get free.She screamed the whole time. I could not hold her down she would kick and pinch me, she even bit the dentist! Is there anything that I can do or give her to relax her before she goes to the dentist? we have to go next week to try again SAME DENTIST! and I don't want to go through that again. The dentist will not prescribe her anything. Should I ask her Pediatriian to prescibe her something?

I feel bad for your daughter. From what I read, I guess your current dentist is only a general dentist. Any dentist at this time will need have a special certification b4 he or she can deliver any type of liquid or gas sedation. I would recommend you and my little patient with the same fear to a pedodontist(dentist for kids) for treatment.

NO CHANGE DENTISTS. Cancel the next appointment and get her in to see a pediatric dentist. What your dentist just did today was PATIENT ABUSE!. Change dentists first thing in the morning. DO let your child be abused by a dentist who is not good with children. This is unacceptable for any dentist to behave like this.

Is this dentist a Pedodontist (one who deals with only kids)? If not then find one. They are experience and deal with kids every day, and they know how to handle children like your daughter. They might even use gas. I am not sure that the dentist you saw today will have any more success the next time. If this dentist you went to is a Pedodontist then maybe you can check with your daughters Pediatrician to see if they can refer you to someone else. I would not bring my child back there if it were me.

I DON'T GIVE KIDS SHOTS FOR THAT VERY REASON.
THE NERVES FOR BABY TEETH ARE DIFFERENT THAN THOSE OF ADULT TEETH.
WITH THE PROPER DRILLING TECHNIQUE AND CORRECT CHAIR SIDE MANNER SHOTS CAN BE AVOIDED OFTEN TIMES WITH CHILDREN.
GO AND SEE THE DIFFERENCE A PEDIATRIC DENTIST GIVES HER. SHE MAY BENEFIT FROM NITROUS OXIDE, AKA LAUGHING GAS.
PHARMACEUTICALS (DRUGS) ARE REDUNDANT AND SHOULD BE AVOIDED.

i suggest changing dentists to a more kid-friendly and understandable one that gives sedations juices...this one sounds mean
