I owe my dentist $16,000- can I legally cancel this Treatment plan?
Question:
I have to have a LOT of work done on my teeth, a LOT! So a 2 months ago I signed paperwork stating that I will have this work done, and in turn, I will owe $16,000 and pay $370 a month.
Obviously, for a 24 year old dude, this is a LOT of $$$. So I already had a LITTLE BIT of work done, probably about $6,000 worth. And I am pretty sure I want to stop the treatment and just pay what I owe at the moment.
Do you guys think that this will cause any legal problems for me?
Oh, if it helps, the payments are through a 3rd party that the dentist's office works directly with called carecredit.
Answers:
Your about to really goof up your credit.. A contract is a legal document. Talk to the financial instution your making the payment to--I'm sure the doctor is NOT issuing payment plans..
If you stop treatment can you pay what you owe is the question?. You better have $6000 to pay...Read the contract it is there.. Default on the payment by not paying or paying late. The credit company has the right to collect in full.. Garnish your wages or take over you bank accounts, investments... Lean on the house you own...PLUS ruuin the ole credit rating for some time.. The $16000 you owe is gona turn in $32,000 bill--trust me... Make an arrangement---don't be silly and stop paying... If you are not a home owner chances are you never will be
You Did make a binding agreement and you could be sued, If I was you I would be grateful that I have a dentist that would do such a thing for me. And just think what your future would be with rotten teeth.
As long as you haven't done the work, you should be fine to get out of the treatment. You'll only have to pay for the work you've had done.
