Question about wisdom teeth removal?
ok in 3 wks i have 2 get my wisdom teeth cut out. am i gonna b asleep or awake? will they inject an ng tube down me? my oral surgeon she actualy wants 2 remove all 4 by cuttin them out. so all 4 will b cut out.
When flossing, how do you know wwhen you've gone too far under the gum line?

I just got all four of mine pulled yesterday morning. The assistants gave me an oxygen mask for air supply, took my blood pressure, plugged me into a heart monitor. Then the oral surgeon came in and injected a tube into my vein, just like getting blood drawn, and i felt sleepy within the next 20 seconds. Nothing to worry about. Next thing i knew i was awake but still drowsy with four missing teeth. All four of my teeth were above the surface so he just cut around them, pulled them out, and stitched them up. I havent felt pain yet, but everyone tells me it will come today and tomorrow but it still hasnt hit me. It was a really cool experience for me and there is nothing to worry about. As far as medicine, i have to take one antibiotic pill twice a day and a pain killer pill every 4-6 hrs. Your surgeon will give you sheets about the procedure and the after surgery rest procedure.
Does anyone know of a way of doing a checkup...?
Lidocaine and (perhaps) N2O (nitrous). Cutting out? You sure? My lowers were because they were completely below the gum line and tipped forward, but most can be just pulled. Stay on a liquid diet for at least a couple weeks so as not to lose the clots that form in the vacancies. Treating dry sockets is long, frquent, and very distasteful (yuck).
when i had my wisdon teeth cut out i was put under. when i woke up it was as if i had blinked but i was actually out for about 20 minutes. then i was all loopy for about 30 minutes in the recovery area until i was able to walk out of the office on my own for my wife to drive me home. i would say it would be best to have all 4 done at once rather than having to go through it twice at 2 at a time.

All dentist are different, they might use a strong sedative, & really put you almost to sleep, might use Nitrous gas & lidocaine. Alot depends on the condition of the teeth, if they are going to be hard to get out, easy to pop out etc. NG tube no, this is a tube that goes to your stomach, no use for it just taking out teeth. My son had all 4 done in one day with gas & lidocaine with no problems at all, he said it never even hurt, well until the next day & then it was more his jaw being sore from hi mouth being open so wide & stretched out. He was quite sore a few days, but nothing really bad. I was the exact same way too.
what are the duties of a dentist?
If you are going to an oral surgeon chances are that you will be given general anesthesia through an IV. You will be completely unaware of the procedure. When you are healing make sure not to smoke anything as it can give you dry socket and TRUST ME you do not want that!! It is very simple and there is nothing for you to worry about. You are lucky you are getting all 4 out at once!
Do you like the extremely white teeth that almost all celebrities have?
your goin to be asleep, no tube is goign to be down your throat. i had all 4 out the same day as well, no biggy
You have the choice to be awake or asleep, in most cases you are asleep. It just seems to be easier for everyone, but you can be awake if you like.
What are my option, anyone 27, of straightening out my teeth? This is basic for my job.?
you should have a consultation with oral surgeon who will be removing/extracting your wisdom teeth. she will be able to explain the procedure in full to you. you should be told if you are to have a general aenesthetic or sedation to remove the teeth how difficult they may be to remove and any problems or complications that can occur during and after the treatment. before any treatmnet is started you should be fully aware of the treatment plan and also sign a CONSENT FORM. your dentist may want to remove all 4 wisdom teeth to prevent any future problems and save you the torture of having to go back for a second visit! good luck and i hope all goes well.
