What is a tooth bond?

Question:
I went to the Dentist yesterday and he told me that I have a cavity. Instead of just telling me that I was going to have to get it filled like normal, that I would have to get it bonded. I have no idea what that means or what it looks like! Please help!

Answers:
It sounds like he/she is going to do a white (also called bonding, or composite, or resin) filling. They tooth is prepared the same way with the decay being removed first, then a liquid bonding agent is put on the tooth to cause the bonding to adhere and then the filling is put in place. After that a uv light is held up to the surface to harden the material.
Standard everyday dental work, not to fear!

Hope that helps!
