Oh I hated that when I had braces! You're talking about where they take one rubber band and stretch it across several teeth? That was the worst pain I experienced when I had braces. One time my orthodontist did that on all my top teeth...excruciating. My best advice is to take some kind of pain reliever every few hours to help the pain and eat soft food while your teeth are hurting. Puddings, soups, things like that...it will hurt for a couple days, but it DOES get better, even though for awhile it feels like it won't. Hang in there.
That is standard for all braces. One good night sleep and you won't feel them the next day. Eat only soft foods for aa day. See what happens. Take advil!
eat soup i have to get my braces tightened today it should hurt for a couple of days
in order to take the pain away, you can take advil/tylenol/motrin (whatever you usually take for pain).
i suggest you don't eat anything hard (like nachos, chips) or anything that involves some serious chewing. i always had soup & applesauce until the pain went away because you don't need to worry about chewing. oh & jello's a good option too. good luck & feel better! :]
This is normal and will hurt for several days. My orthodontist actually recommended chewing on sugarless gum. It hurts worse for a minute then eases the pain. If your doc says no to gum go for super soft foods like soup, pudding, and fish. Rip bread into tiny pieces and chew slowly. Fortunately all the pain is worth the great teeth in the end.
What your ortho actually put on is called a power chain. It is used to pull your teeth together. This is part of the process of straightening your teeth. Take a pain releiver and in a few days you won't even notice the pain.
