Is tooth Whitening Safe?
I've heard about laser whitening or bleaching that can be performed by a dentist. Are they safe or will they have an ill effect on the teeth?

You need enamel to keep your teeth healthy. If you do the whitening, it strips your enamel. Even whiting toothpastes will strip the enamel. Then your teeth become sensitive and ouchy. I don't think doing it once or twice will hurt you, but doing it all the time will. I used to use the toothpaste. I had to stop, because my teeth hurt so bad. I had to start using sensodine with the enamel strengthener in it. I love it.
They will have ill effects on your teeth. The bleaching is not good for the enamel that naturally protects the teeth. Some people also report sensitivity to hot and cold foods after.

it should be fine if u get it done by the dentist because they can tell you what the after effects will be if there is any, apparently if u do it yourself you may end up having sensitive teeth, good luck tho =]
As the people above me have said, it will weaken the enamel on your teeth. And another factor is, if you are 15 and under, you should not do it as your teeth are still growing and the new part growing will not be bleached as it grows and it will look different. Otherwise, it is safe to do it. If you find your teeth are "ouchy", do what the other girl said and use sensodyne toothepaste to make your teeth less sensative.
